It’s January 31, 2014, so that means we’ve made it through the first month of the New Year!
I’ve already experienced a few bumps in the road in these past 31 days. But I count in all joy and that’s why I wanted to share this post with y’all today.
Now I know a lot people find making resolutions pointless. But I think subconsciously we all make mental notes at the beginning of the year on how we want to improve ourselves and ways to make our life better. We create vision boards, set goals, hit the gym more often, begin saving money daily/weekly (y’all know about the money savings challenges out there) and even try eating right…I know I’m not the only one! But somewhere after January 1st all of our wishful thinking melts away just like the snow in Springtime, probably even faster than that.
“They” say around only 8% of the people who set resolutions actually achieve them. How discouraging right? But that doesn’t have to be the case, we can be in that 8%! We can achieve all the things we set out to accomplish this year…we really can! Here’s what I plan to do to help me succeed this year…
What you think has so much power! And if I doubt myself there’s no need anyone else trying to motivate me, right? Change begins within!
Eliminate and avoid the negative people!
I saw this on Instagram the other day and it’s so necessary. There will always be naysayers no matter what it is you’re trying to do and those people have no room in my life. I want to surround myself only with those who want to succeed in their own lives and those around them.
I know it’s all easier said then done, but I’m really determined to make this year different. So far I’ve been doing pretty good with most of my goals and resolutions for the year. I will admit there are some that I’m really struggling to maintain. But everyday is new day to do better! So remember *singing in my Aaliyah voice*, “If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again…”
How are staying focused this year? What motivates you to set/accomplish your goals?

It’s Monday…already!!! And I swear it feels like the weekend just flew by! Isn’t that always the case…weekdays move at a snail’s pace but the weekend ends before you can blink.
We didn’t do a whole lot, which I enjoyed. Sometimes it feels good just not to have anything pressing to do. I did get a chance to squeeze in a workout with my oldest son and two movie nights with the fam. And late last night I managed to squeeze in a little manicure me time….
I decided to try out one of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes from my most recent Influenster Vox Box. I went with my favorite of the three…Jaded. This shade is gorgeous! Initially I was slightly disappointed because it went on so sheer but after the second coat, I was more than pleased with the color payoff.
The Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes offer 7 benefits of a salon manicure in 1 bottle:
- Base Coat
- Growth Treatment
- Top Coat
- Chip Resistant
- Gel Shine
It’s been a while since I’ve polished my nails and I’m really loving this shade. I’ve used the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes before and the formula is great. And if you haven’t tried them, I highly recommend that you do…the wide flat brush is amazing!
What do you think of Jaded by Sally Hansen? Have you tried any of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes yet? What color are you rocking on your nails today?
Y’all know I love nail polish! So I was super excited when I received my Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Influenster Vox Box in the mail, especially since I’m on a “no-buy” diet until March. Check out the reveal here…
Have you tried the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes yet? Which shade should I try out first from the Influenster Vox Box? Have you signed up for Influenster yet?
Disclaimer: Influenster sent these products to me for free in exchange for my review but as always ALL opinion stated are my own.
While unpacking from my week-long vacay during the holidays, I became extremely overwhelmed. Ok, that’s a bit of an understatement…I thought I was about to lose my mind. I realized that I have too much stuff! And that’s even after several attempts (month after month) to purge what it is I don’t use, need or wear. So yes, I will admit that I have a problem…
Hi, my name is Roni and I’m a shopaholic!
I truly believe that shopping on any level is therapeutic. And when you pair that with my love for great deals and coupons, my shopping addiction gets even worse. So I’ve decided to challenge myself this year…I will shop less in 2014!
Now I know that most resolutions don’t make it past January. But I’m setting rules and guidelines for myself to help me stick to shopping less this year.
- I have shared my resolution with the hubs, a few friends and family members hoping that they will help hold me accountable throughout the year.
- From now until the end of March, I putting myself on a strict “no-buy diet.” That means I’m only allowing myself to purchase the necessities (i.e. the staple products I use daily that run out) and nothing else no matter how great of a deal it is. During this time I plan to re-evaluate what is in my closet and purge as needed.
- After March, I will re-evaluate my strict “no-buy diet” and decide if I want to treat myself with a mini shopping trip during my birthday month.
- Throughout the year I vow to shop my closet more and to be more creative with my outfit combinations. No more wearing the same ol’ thing from week to week.
- I will live vicariously through the fashionista’s on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and various blogs that so graciously share their shopping hauls. And use their outfit of the day post as sources of inspiration.
Would you like to join me on my quest to shop less in 2014? Have you ever done a no shopping challenge or resolution? What steps did you take to help curve your shopping appetite? What resolutions have you made for 2014? Do you believe in making New Year’s resolutions?
I love my natural hair and it’s versatility. Since the year is coming to a close in a few days, I decided to take a look back at my natural hair styles of 2013.
Early this year I installed Marley Twist, a style I hoped would last at a month but only lasted about a week or two. I ranted about it here.
I also tried the Bantu Knot Out earlier this year. I love the shrinkage and fullness but it’s definitely a style that needs work.
I also revisited the Wash’n Go this year. I personally prefer the Wash’n Go on shorter hair but I might give this one another go too.
Mini Twist are always a favorite of mine!
I experimented with a few new updo styles too.
The Twist’n Bun is my go-to style on a bad hair day. I love it…simple and chic!
And when all else fails, I throw in a what I like to call a Pony Puff.
I used to be a die-hard braidout girl but once I mastered the twistout, I’ve been in love ever since. Now it’s my go-to style for all occasions!
What’s your favorite natural hair style of 2013? Will you be trying any new hair styles in the upcoming year? Are you ready for 2014?
